Our Mission & Core Values

Our Mission

Our mission is to make disciples as instructed by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus, in Matthew 28:19-20

We believe this can be accomplished by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit as we live out our core values which uniquely define our community.

What is Discipleship?

Discipleship is the lifelong journey of following Jesus Christ, learning His ways, and becoming more like Him. It involves both personal transformation and the multiplication of believers who follow Christ.

Discipleship is not about perfection but about progress - growing daily in our walk with Christ and helping others do the same.

Our Core Values

Our core values flow out of what we believe to be key elements of discipleship. These values are clearly reflected in Luke’s account of the habits & norms of the early church (Acts 2: 41-47).

Personal Relationship with Christ

The foundation of discipleship is a genuine relationship with Jesus. A disciple must first have heard the gospel of Jesus, pledged allegiance to Him and turned away from his sins. The seal of this experience is the disciple’s baptism.

Learning

To be a disciple is to be a student/learner.

We believe that the Bible is the primary way to know God. In Luke 24, we see the resurrected Christ reveal himself by taking His disciples through the scriptures. If the scriptures were sufficient for Jesus, they are sufficient for us. If the scriptures aren’t enough, then nothing will suffice.

We also believe that true knowledge of Christ necessarily produces a transformation of values and character, such that discipleship is evidenced in a disciple’s lifestyle and choices.

Therefore, just like the early church, we give ourselves to theologically sound, biblically accurate teaching & preaching.

Prayer

We prioritize praying as modeled by our Lord Jesus and exemplified by the early church. While we are instructed and encouraged to pray, prayer is necessary as our evidence of utter helplessness of our own strengths and absolute dependence on God.

Community

God has designed that disciples grow together with other disciples in fellowship and accountability for their progress in faith and preservation of their souls. Therefore, we emphasize genuine love, connection and accountability, recognizing that it is absolutely essential that we worship, eat, learn, walk through life and serve together in light of our shared faith and commitment to Jesus.

Service

Our faith is put into action through serving others with our time, spaces, finances, skills, e.t.c. The gospel gives us all reason and motivation to be generous with everything, knowing that we own nothing that was not first generously given by God.

Missions

As we grow in the knowledge of Christ, it is also essential that we look outward to our neighborhoods, offices, schools, and our other spheres of influence to bring them to know Christ and take them through the journey of discipleship. We believe that this will bring spiritual and cultural renewal to our localities. The command is to Go!
