Call To Prayer
Scriptures to be read aloud by all
Scriptures
- Jeremiah 33:3 - Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.
- Psalm 145: 18-19 The Lord is near all who call out to him, all who call out to him with integrity. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry for help and saves them.
- Matthew 7: 7-11 - Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.
- James 5:16(b) The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
- Romans 8:28 - In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.
General confession to be said by all
Heavenly Father,
We thank you for the privilege to pray. We know that we can only approach You because You have called us to come to You.
We also thank you for the assurance of answered prayers. Because we come in the name of Jesus, You hear our voice, and we have every request we present before you. Good Father, help us to pray according to Your will today. We trust You for utterance and help, and rely on the intercessory ministry of the Spirit to help our weaknesses.
Amen.
Confession & Repentance
Scriptures to be read aloud by all
Scriptures
- Hebrews 4: 15-16 - For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.
- 1 John 1: 8-9 - If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
General confession to be said by all
Merciful Father, we come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging our sins and shortcomings. In thought, word, and deed, we have strayed from Your ways, choosing our desires over Your will.
Forgive us, Lord, for the ways we have dishonored You, for the times we have neglected prayer, ignored Your Word, or trusted in our own strength instead of in Your grace. Have mercy on us, cleanse us by the blood of Jesus, and renew in us a right spirit.
Father, we surrender ourselves to You afresh. Set us apart for Your glory and transform us by the power of Your Spirit. Make our hearts pure, our minds steadfast, and our hands ready for Your work. Fill us with a hunger for righteousness, a passion for Your presence, and a love that reflects Christ.
Teach us to walk in obedience, to serve with humility, and to proclaim Your truth with boldness. May our lives be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
